Case Studies

Below are some examples of the ways in which my coaching and mentoring has helped small business owners, executives, people returning to work after a career break, and aspiring/new leaders/managers.

The people I’ve coached over the years have all had one thing in common; that they want to develop and grow, and to improve some aspect of their life. Working by themselves they are very capable and can be very successful, but often they are limiting themselves in some way. It’s as if, to use a driving analogy, they have one foot on the accelerator and another on the brake! Coaching allows them to dig deeper within themselves, to raise their self-awareness, so they can take that foot off the brake, and ultimately unlock their further potential.

One of my corporate roles involved working with people who were returning to work after a career break. It was evident that, after years away from the workplace, their confidence in themselves professionally was low. I worked with these many truly talented people to rebuild their belief in themselves; training in new technology, coaching in business and leadership skills, encouraging them to push themselves out of their comfort zone, a little at a time, proving to them that their vision, combined with hard work, would eventually produce the success they deserved. Nearly ten years later many of those same people are running successful businesses, and training and helping others to do the same.

The owner of an online retail business, had an amazing passion for her work and an obvious talent. However, with no support and no business or financial planning and reporting, it was hard for her to know what decisions to make. All she knew was that she loved her work but was exhausted working 24/7! Through coaching and mentoring she was able to articulate her vision for the future, and make plans which resulted in her developing her leadership and delegation skills, recruiting a small team, getting regular financial reporting which in turn allowed her to prioritise her own workload. Consequently, the business became more efficient and, most importantly, she was able to recognise what was being achieved, allowing her and her team to celebrate their successes!

Transitioning from an employed role to setting up a new business, working for herself, was a brave move for one of my clients. However, she planned a gradual transition ensuring that her income could be carefully managed. Through coaching and mentoring she put together an initial business plan setting herself some ambitious, yet realistic, goals to achieve within the first year, asking me as her Coach to keep her accountable, especially over the first few months. She was soon able to see the results of her efforts and her business developed much more easily than she’d ever imagined. Growing in confidence, as a direct result of achieving her goals, she is now feeling more empowered and able to set further goals, which will enable her to take her business to the next level.
